Philippe Barman

Mr. Philippe Barman studied law at the University of Berne from 1990 to 1997. After admission to the bar, he was employed from 1997 to 2000 in the Trademark Division of the Federal Institute of Intellectual Property ( Swiss Patent and Trademark Office ). His responsibilities included the drafting of opposition decisions and the preparation of expert opinions in the area of trademark law. In addition, he was coordinator from 1997 to 1999 of the Swiss periodical “sic!” (Swiss periodical in the fields of intellectual property, information and competition law). He continues to act as a permanent member of the editorial staff in the court-decision section of this Swiss periodical.

From 2001 to 2003 Mr. Philippe Barman worked at a law office in Berne and Lausanne specialised in the field of intellectual property. Since 2004 he has his own law office.

Mr. Barman is bilingual in German and French and also speaks English. He is a member of the Bernese and Swiss Bar Association.
